Bendigo rockers Four Lions are set to add some late-summer sizzle to Victorian stages in their first shows for 2021.
The band has put a frustrating year behind them, finally getting the green light to go back into Melbourne’s Head Gap studio this month to wrap up their forthcoming fifth album, due out later this year.
It will be preceded by the standalone single Black And White, which audiences can expect to hear in the upcoming shows, along with a handful of other new songs.
Frontman Shann Lions says audiences can expect plenty of classic, anthemic rock on the new album, in the vein of Bruce Springsteen, Oasis, and The Killers.
“We can’t wait for people to hear our new record – we think it’s our best one yet,” Lions says.
“It took us four goes to get back into Head Gap because of the restrictions around ‘rona, but it was worth the wait.
“And we’re itching to get back on stage - because these songs are made to be played live.
“We hope everyone digs them as much as we do.”
Four Lions will be unveiling their new material, along with a host of old favourites, at Bendigo’s Handle Bar on Friday, February 26; The Union in Brunswick, Melbourne, on Saturday, February 27; and Castlemaine’s Shedshaker Brewery-The Taproom on Sunday, February 28.
All shows are free entry, but check with the venue around crowd capacity as restrictions continue to ease.
Four Lions will be joined at Handle Bar by their special guest, acid house act Fluffy Bagel, who will be performing a two-hour set from 10.30pm.
Fluffy Bagel (aka Dave Hanson) uses digital and analogue synths to create a live mash-up of old-school 1980s, '90s and 2000s dance, house and techno-styled tracks, topped with chirping and squelching acid lines.
